Ecological Agriculture Certificate

ECOLOGICAL AGRICULTURE CERTIFICATE

Ecological Agriculture is a controlled and certified form of agricultural production without using chemical inputs in production, without containing any chemical residues in agricultural products, from production to consumption. The certificate is given as a result of a series of controls and inspections by independent and impartial certification bodies with international accreditation.
A Regulation on Good Agricultural Practices was issued in 2010 by the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock in our country. This regulation aims to make agricultural production in a way that does not harm human and animal health and natural conditions. Likewise, the Regulation on the Principles and Application of Organic Agriculture was issued in 2010 by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. This regulation regulates the principles for maintaining the ecological balance, as well as ensuring organic agricultural production and the regulation, development and dissemination of marketing conditions.

Although the transition processes differ from product to product;

* In vegetative production, 2 years for annual plants, 3 years for biennial and perennial plants,
* In animal production, 2 months for cattle and ovine, 6 months for rabbits, 1 month for chickens,
* The transition period in aquaculture production varies according to the species and species of the creature,
The processes are determined by the control and certification body.

As a result, organic or ecological agriculture includes human and environmentally friendly production systems aimed at restoring the natural balance lost by faulty practices as a result of intensive agriculture. With this system, it is aimed to use organic and green fertilizing, crop rotation, soil conservation, durable varieties, parasites against pests, predators, as well as using inputs that do not leave any residual effect in the agricultural soil.

Basic Features of Ecological Agriculture:

* Being suitable for human and nature
* Intense biological diversity
* Not using synthetic chemical pesticides and fertilizers
* Keeping soil fertility in the foreground with organic and green fertilization and alternation
* Considering the soil as a living element
* Soil fertilization instead of plant fertilization
* Using less external input than other agricultural methods
* Prioritizing practices that increase plant and soil resistance
* Extensive use of forecasting and early warning techniques
* To solve disease, pest and weed control under the leadership of cultural, mechanical, physical and biological measures, if solution is not possible, use of natural pesticides
* Solving problems primarily with dynamics and applications within its own internal system

Ecological Agriculture Certificate Stages

* Contract: The main principle of ecological agriculture is contract. Ecological agriculture is based on the principles of the contract signed with the authorized institution. The contract is made between the farmer or the person or institution making projects on behalf of the farmer and a control and certification body authorized by the Ministry of Agriculture to inspect him.

* Control: The control and certification body controls and inspects the farmer´s production as he switches to ecological agriculture. When necessary, it has soil and fertilizer analysis done and tests whether chemicals are used in production with laboratory results.

* Transition process: When the farmer switches to ecological agriculture, he is subjected to an inspection stage called the transition process. Products produced in the transition period cannot be ecologically documented and sold. It is also not mixed with other ecological or non-ecological products.

* Certification: Apart from the fertilization and pest control methods approved by the farmer, control and certification body within the framework of regulations and standards; No method or substance should be used, except for the substances that are allowed to be used. If it fully complies with the standards, the products are issued with an Ecological Agriculture Certificate by the control and certification body. The farmer markets his product using this certificate.
