ISO 22000 FOOD SAFETY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM CERTIFICATE

Food safety means not hesitating that when the food is produced in accordance with its intended use and consumed by humans, it will not cause a health problem or harm people. It is important to have an effective control for food safety in the food chain, since there may be a food-related hazard during consumption at any stage of the food chain. ISO 22000 Food Safety Management System published on September 1, 2005; It is an international standard established to create a worldwide safe food chain. In order to provide maximum benefit in the food safety system; It is necessary to be in regular and cooperation between all management and relevant units within the organization, to implement the standard and to update when necessary. ISO 22000 Food Safety Management System; It determines the conditions for the food management system in order to control the safety risks in the food chain and to maintain order.

The Food Safety Management System is an international standard and has emerged to create a safe food production chain worldwide. This system aims at communication between producers, consumers, suppliers, legal authorities and other relevant organizations, and in this way, food can be traced at every step. This system, which aims to ensure food safety at every stage along the food chain, also includes HACCP principles.

HACCP principles are based only on the production stage of food production. The HACCP Certificate is only valid for manufacturing companies. It is not an ISO Standard and the HACCP system is not internationally accredited. After 2006, HACCP Certificates have lost their validity and organizations with this certificate have started to return to ISO 22000 Food Safety Management System standards.

How to Obtain ISO 22000 Food Safety Management System Certificate?

Organizations wishing to obtain ISO 22000 Food Safety Management System certification must first apply standards such as ISO 22000, PAS 220. PAS 220 standard has been published in our country under the name of TSE ISO / TS 22002-1 Food Safety Prerequisite Programs / Food Production Standard. Afterwards, the FSSC 22000 Certificate standards should be understood and applied. In this context, the system must be implemented for a while, internal audits must be carried out, corrective and preventive actions must be implemented and any non-conformities must be eliminated. After reaching this stage, ISO 22000 Certificate can be requested by applying to a certification body. First and second level audits are carried out by the certification body upon request. If there are nonconformities detected during the inspections, they must be corrected immediately. If the certification body is convinced that a certificate should be given to the enterprise based on the auditor´s reports, it issues the ISO 22000 GGYS certificate and delivers it to the enterprise. The validity period of the certificate is 3 years as in other quality management systems, and the compliance status of the enterprises is observed with the interim audits conducted every year.
