ECOLOGICAL PRODUCT / SERVICE CERTIFICATION
Today, ecological agriculture is developing rapidly all over the world. Especially in developed countries, the demand for ecological products is higher than what is supplied. In this regard, all countries should determine their own strategies, create opportunity areas and prepare an action plan. Ecology is the science that studies the relationships of living things with each other and with the environment. This word, whose origin is Latin, has passed into our language from French. Ecological means related to and compatible with Ecology.
Which Product Groups Does Ecological Product Certification Cover?
Ecological product certification covers many product groups. The most basic of these product groups that change day by day;
* Products used in cleaning (Detergents, etc.),
* Textile and clothing products (shoes, clothes, etc.)
* Paints and varnishes,
* Electrical-Electronic products (computers etc.),
* Floor covering products (parquet, carpet, etc.),
* Furniture,
* Garden products (artificial fertilizers, etc.),
* Oils used for lubrication purposes and foods,
* Bedding products (duvet cover, mattress, etc.),
* Papers (photocopy paper, toilet paper, etc.).
Basic Principles of Ecological Production
* Establishing a sustainable system in the entire production chain and making high quality and sufficient production
* Working in harmony with all living systems and the natural cycle within the production system
* Historical information from traditional agricultural systems being important and protecting and utilizing this information
* Application of modern production techniques in parallel with the functioning of natural production processes
* Increasing and long-term preservation of soil fertility and biological activity by using appropriate soil tillage, rotation, green fertilization, animal fertilization and cultural, biological and mechanical methods, in contrast to taking soil fertility and production capacity as the basis and intensive input use.
* Conducting disease and pest control activities in accordance with animal or plant production, taking into account the current conditions and ing the species, breed and variety suitable for the product
* Minimizing all kinds of pollution that will affect human and animal health and the natural environment through agricultural activities and not using synthetic chemical fertilizers, drugs, hormones and additives
* Providing living conditions that meet the natural needs of animals while producing animal products
* Conservation of agricultural and natural biological diversity in and around the production environment
* Reducing energy consumption as much as possible in production activities and using local and renewable resources
* Correct use and protection of water systems and water resources
* Ensuring that all products produced do not lose their ecological product characteristics in all phases followed, including processing and packaging processes.
* Providing a healthy and safe working environment for everyone in and around the production environment to meet their basic needs
* Promoting the establishment of an ecologically balanced production, processing and distribution chain
* Inspection by independent and impartial audit institutions that production is made in accordance with domestic and foreign ecological production criteria and thus providing ecological product assurance to consumers
The concept of sustainability is always prioritized in ecological production activities. Sustainability of production has two meanings. Its first meaning is to protect natural resources in the long term and to ensure their efficiency. The second meaning is to establish a socially, economically and ecologically balanced production system.
The International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements (IFOAM) explains the principles of ecological production as follows:
* To produce quality foodstuffs with high nutritional value and in sufficient quantities
* To operate in harmony with natural systems instead of dominating the natural conditions in production activities
* To support an agricultural system that can stimulate plants and wildlife
* Providing sufficient income level to producers and organizations and providing a safe working environment
* To accept the ecological production system as a way of life and to think from a broad perspective
